Singapore Airlines has confirmed it will launch its planned nonstop Los Angeles service on 2 November.
After three rotations in the first week, the route will be operated daily. Subsequently, on 10 December, the frequency will increase to 10 times weekly.
Airbus A350-900ULRs will be used for the flights.
The frequency of SIA's nonstop service to another Californian city, San Francisco, will likewise increase from daily to 10 times weekly, with A350-900ULRs to be used for the additional flights. No changes to the Singapore-Hong Kong-San Francisco service are planned.
As it boosts its nonstop US services from Singapore, SIA will cease its daily Seoul Incheon-LA flights on 30 November. The Star Alliance member will continue to serve the Korean capital from Singapore at four-times-daily frequency.
FlightGlobal schedules data shows that SIA will be the only operator on the Singapore-LA route after US carrier United Airlines withdraws on 25 October. United will continue to operate the Singapore-San Francisco route in competition with SIA.
"Our US services have always been popular with our customers, and we are pleased to be able to provide even more travel options with the launch of nonstop flights between Singapore and Los Angeles, and an increase in frequency on the existing nonstop Singapore-San Francisco route," states Singapore Airlines's chief executive Goh Choon Phong.
