Singapore Changi airport airport is poised to start multi-year expansion work at Terminal 2 which will increase overall handling capacity by 5 million to 90 million passengers per annum by 2024.
Changi Airport Group (CAG) says the work will get under way in the coming weeks.
Terminal 2 began operations in 1990 and had its most recent upgrade in 2006.
“The expansion and renovation works will rejuvenate T2, while the upgrades in the key operating infrastructure such as the baggage-handling systems will enhance the terminal’s capacity and efficiency, allowing us to serve more airlines and passengers when the works are completed,” states Tan Lye Teck, CAG’s executive vice-president of airport management.
“T2 will continue to operate and welcome passengers, even as we work to minimise disruption to operations and inconvenience to passengers and visitors.”
