United Airlines will double its San Francisco-Hong Kong service to twice daily on 26 October.
The Star Alliance member will deploy Boeing 777-200ERs on the second daily flight.
Cirium’s schedules data shows that with the capacity increase, United will have the second most number of flights between both cities.
Cathay Pacific flies thrice-daily Hong Kong-San Francisco flights, followed by Singapore Airlines with a daily frequency, while Hong Kong Airlines operates the route four-times a week.
United’s frequency expansion on the Hong Kong route comes on the back of recent new route launches from San Francisco. In March, United began San Francisco-Amsterdam and San Francisco-Toronto services.
It will also be launching seasonal flights from San Francisco to Melbourne in October, and Delhi in December.
