Rockwell Collins has expanded its Pro Line 21 integrated avionics system with the addition of next-generation radio sensors. The first new aircraft to have the system will be Bombardier's Continental business jet.

The Pro Line 21 CNS sensor suite will provide the functionality required for the future communication, navigation, surveillance/air traffic management (CNS/ATM) system, Collins says.

Pro Line 21 CNS will be available as an integrated package, or as standalone sensors to replace Pro Line II radios.

Elements of the system include:

• VHF-4000 voice/data radio, providing VHF datalink Mode 2, upgradable to Modes 3 and 4, with a HF datalink modem compatible with Collins' HF-9000 radio, and providing satellite communications capability via the company's SAT-4000 and -6000 Aero-I and Aero-H/I system;

• NAV-4000 navigation receiver, DME-4000 distance measuring unit, SNS-4000 satellite navigation system and TDR-4000 Mode S transponder;

• RIU-4000 radio interface unit, providing voice and data consolidation and communications management.
