An Angola consortium led by TAAG Angola Airlines has signed a firm purchase agreement for six Bombardier Q400 turboprops.
The deal, valued at around $198 million, will see the aircraft operated by startup Air Connection Express out of its base in Luanda.
As a regional feeder airline to TAAG Angola Airlines, Air Connection Express will operate the Q400s domestically to connect smaller communities and increase frequencies.
Air Connection Express was set up by members of a local consortium that includes TAAG Angola Airlines and several other companies.
The consortium is establishing a management team and planning the operational structure for Air Connection Express.
Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that TAAG operates a fleet of 12 aircraft, including eight Boeing 787s and four 737s.
