Emirates has jumped to the front of the line when Boeing begins deliveries of the 777-9 in less than three years, the manufacturer confirms.
Boeing previously announced that Lufthansa would be the first airline to receive the re-engined and re-winged 400-seater.
But Boeing confirms that Emirates is now the first scheduled to receive the first aircraft. The delivery switch was first reported by UAE-based Gulf News.
Emirates accounts for the largest of the eight airline orders placed so far for the 777X family, which includes the longer range 777-8.
The 150 777X aircraft, including 115 777-9s, ordered by the Dubai-based carrier account for nearly half of all of Boeing’s orders for the type.
Boeing continues building the first pieces of the first 777-9 flight test aircraft which is scheduled to fly by the end of next year.
