Airbus has increased net orders this year to 380 aircraft following the close of business at the Farnborough air show.
The airframer says that, by 14 July, its gross order count for 2016 had risen to 419.
Firm orders at the show comprised 197 aircraft – all but 10 of which were A320-family jets, with AirAsia the largest customer with a deal for 100 A321neos.
The balance of 10 included two A330-300s and eight A350-1000s.
Another 82 aircraft – all from the A320 family – were the subject of memoranda of understanding, and yet to be included in the firm order total.
Several orders disclosed during the show had already been listed in Airbus’s backlog, attributed to unidentified customers. These included Arkia’s A330neos, Wow Air’s A321neos and the A320neo for Air Cote d’Ivoire.
Airbus values the firm business at $26.3 billion, with another $8.7 billion attributed to commitments.
Chief operating officer for customers John Leahy, speaking during the show, remained confident that the airframer would achieve a book-to-bill of unity by the end of the year, based on deliveries of 650 aircraft.
