Airbus Helicopters has signed a €551 million ($643 million) contract for the supply of 55 rotorcraft to Ukraine's interior ministry, including a number of second-hand units.
Comprising H125 light-singles, H145 medium-twins and H225 heavy-twins, deliveries of the first four aircraft will take place this year.
To be used by a variety of security agencies, including the national police and border guard service, the rotorcraft will be acquired in two tranches, of 37 and 18 units, respectively.
Interior minister Arsen Avakov says that at least 21 of the aircraft will be H225s, although he provides no details of the split between the other models.
A large proportion of the H225s are pre-owned aircraft, formerly operated by CHC Helicopter and defleeted as part of its Chapter 11 restructuring.
