Lufthansa Technik (booth 2253) is making its NICE Ethernet-based cabin network available to North American corporate operators following an agreement with St Louis-based modification and completions provider Midcoast Aviation.

NICE

Midcoast has been appointed as a sales outlet and customer support centre for NICE. It will install Lufthansa Technik-manufactured NICE equipment as part of its own completions and will provide maintenance and repair services for systems installed by third parties.
LHT is also working closely with US subsidiary BizJet of Tulsa, Oklahoma, on preparations for NICE regional marketing and installations.

Designed to provide a common high-speed network to support previously separate in-flight entertainment, communications and cabin management functions, NICE is already flying in two Boeing Business Jets and a VIP Boeing 747-400. It is also being installed in a pair of VIP widebodies. A version featuring 28V DC power is being offered for the standard business jet market.

LHT has also announced the latest addition to the suite of NICE capabilities – an audio/video-on-demand server for in-flight entertainment. With up to 512Gb of memory the server can meet the demands of up to 100 passengers simultaneously. Related NICE components include a minimum-depth digital passenger control unit and an array of high-resolution liquid crystal displays measuring from 10in (250mm) to 30in.
