The National Research Council of Canada Institute for Aerospace Research (NRC Aerospace) has completed a $1.7 million contract from Sikorsky to perform icing tests on the S-76 helicopter.

NRC Aerospace propulsion expert Jim MacLeod says: "We were booked up for the year in our engine test cells, but our aerodynamics laboratory said it could perform the work in the open-circuit propulsion wind tunnel. It had previously been used for aircraft de-icing research, but not for in-flight simulation, so we had to start with a clean slate."
