The world's only handheld airband radio for use in hazardous environments is on display at the Muirhead stand (Hall 1, Stand E3).
Built by Pilz of Germany, the Aircom 800 is designed for use on off-shore platforms and other hazardous environments.
Its aluminium chassis can withstand shock, dust, water, vibration and high temperatures and the radio exceeds the current regulatory requirements.
Previously, rig workers had to use UHF radios, while the rig's radio centre transverted the signals back down to the VHF airband. But the Aircom 800 lets them communicate directly with incoming helicopters.
