The oneworld alliance says that it is actively looking for new members after four years of focusing on the consequences of the industry downturn. The alliance, the only one of the big three groupings where its members made a collective profit last year, is talking to Japan Airlines and is also looking at mainland China, India, and regions of Latin America not covered by Chile's LAN, among other areas. Oneworld, which last added members as long ago as May 1996 when LAN and Aer Lingus signed up, currently has eight members.
