Korean Air intends to purchase 30 Boeing 737 Max jets and has taken options on an additional 20, the manufacturer confirms.
The narrowbody deal was disclosed shortly after a similarly structured one under which Korean tentatively agreed to purchase 30 Airbus A321neos and take options on 20 more.
Max 8s and substitution rights to Max 9s are covered by Korean's new arrangement with Boeing, says the US airframer.
Korean also intends to take two more 777-300ERs, Boeing discloses. The airline already had 10 on order, and operates 14 today, alongside four -300s, 17 -200ERs and five 777Fs, Flightglobal's Ascend Fleets database shows.
Additionally, Korean's 161-strong active fleet includes 40 737s and 35 747s. It has 12 747-8s on order, plus 10 787-9s and five 777Fs as well as the 10 777-300ERs.
The new accord could therefore bring to 69 the number of Boeing aircraft Korean has on order.
