United Airlines has converted 100 of its Boeing 737 Max orders to the newly announced Max 10 variant, while also signing for more 777-300ER aircraft.
"The 737 Max 10 will enable us to continue using larger and more efficient aircraft within our domestic network and better meet the needs of our customers today and into the future," states Andrew Levy, the US carrier's chief financial officer.
United has a total of 161 Max jets on order. Gerry Laderman, senior vice-president of finance, procurement and treasurer, says this now includes 61 Max 9s, deliveries of which will begin in April 2019.
The airline expects to begin taking delivery of the Max 10s in late 2020.
It has also confirmed an order for four additional Boeing 777-300ERs. Flight Fleets Analyzer shows United has 10 777-300ERs already in service. Today’s additions mean the carrier now has another eight on order.
Boeing launched the Max 10 at the Paris air show yesterday.
