Tanzania has placed firm orders for two Bombardier CS300s and one Q400 turboprop, which will be leased to Air Tanzania.
Bombardier will sell the aircraft to the Tanzanian Government Flight Agency, which will lease them to the airline Bombardier says. The deal has a value at list prices of $200 million, it adds.
"The CS300 aircraft will allow Air Tanzania to expand both its domestic and regional markets, and it has the range to open new international destinations such as the Middle East and India at the lowest cost," says Bombardier's vice-president of sales Africa and the Middle East Jean-Paul Boutibou.
"The CSeries jet aircraft have the right attributes to develop these markets.”
Air Tanzania will base the aircraft at Dar es Salaam, says Bombardier.
The CS300s will be outfitted in a dual-class layout and equipped with in-flight wi-fi, and the Q400s will be outfitted with 76 economy seats, Bombardier says.
The agreement follows Bombardier's delivery in September of two Q400s to Tanzania's flight agency, also for operation with Air Tanzania.
With the deal, Bombardier now secured firm orders for 360 CSeries and 566 Q400s, it says.
