Yesterday afternoon a Piper PA 22 Tri-Pacer with two passengers suffered a ground loop while making a northerly approach landing in high crosswinds.

The 1954 registered aircraft, registration N3671A, crashed at approximately 1pm. Emergency services were on the scene immediately and the passengers and pilot walked away with minor injuries and were taken to hospital for routine checks.

Eyewitness Chuck Neumann from Illinois, says: “The pilot just lost it while in a crosswind and suddenly lost lift. The left wingtip hit and it looped.”

The Piper was cleared from the runway less than an hour after the incident and the show resumed shortly after.
