Based at the Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston, Texas, this Boeing B-17G (44-85718) known as Thunderbird rolled off the assembly line on V-E-Day in May 1945. Thunderbird never saw combat and spent its early life in France mapping Europe. It is a replica of an original B-17G that saw combat in the skies over Europe. The type is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year and is one of two B-17Gs on static display at AirVenture 2010.
