Oxford airport is forging ahead with extensive redevelopment work as it seeks to become a major hub for business aviation in the UK and Europe.

A new 1,950m2 (21,000ft2) hangar - large enough to accommodate a Boeing Business Jet or Embraer Lineage - is scheduled for completion shortly. Work will soon start on a general aviation park to accommodate increasing numbers of general aviation aircraft and very light jets including Phenom 100s that are earmarked for service entry in the coming months with resident operators Hangar 8 and FlairJet.

The airport - owned by the Reuben Brothers - last year completed a strengthened 3,500m2 apron and opened a £2.2 million ($3.25 million) business aviation terminal.
