Oxford Airport in the UK is constructing a new £3 million ($4.4 million) maintenance, repair and overhaul facility that will accommodate regional aircraft including the ATR 72, British Aerospace 146 and Bombardier Q400.
The 4,440m² (47,800ft²) three-bay hangar, known as Hangar 14, will be ready for operations in December. The facility measures 37m by 40m and features vertical lifting 'Megadoors'.
Oxford Airport, which is promoting itself as an alternative to the main London airports, is home to five maintenance companies: EBAS, PremiAir, Eurocopter, AirMed and Oxford Aviation Academy.
The airport's business development director, James Dillon-Godfray, hopes the new MRO facility will serve as "an attractive and cost-effective base for new tenants looking to relocate their aircraft".
