Oxford Aviation Academy has secured Flight Training Organisation approval from Singapore's Civil Aviation Authority, making it the first non-Singaporean company to receive the status.
"The approval now enables Oxford to deliver approved ab initio cadet pilot training at both the Oxford UK and Melbourne Australia training centres, leading to the issue of a CAAS commercial pilots licence and instrument rating with air transport pilot licence (ATPL) theoretical knowledge," said Oxford.
Oxford said the certification will benefit Singapore-based low cost carriers Tiger Airways and Jetstar Asia. Oxford has a programme with Jetstar to promote cadet training programmes among Singaporeans.
The company added that the certification was a key step in establishing a pilot training capability in Singapore, and that plans are underway for a new ground training centre in Singapore.
