The umbilical tower and mobile service structure of launch pad 41, at the northern part of Cape Canaveral in Florida, next to the NASA Kennedy Space Center, have been demolished. The pad had been in use since December 1965 and has been the platform for 27 Titan 3C, 3E-Centaur and 4 vehicle launches, including flights of two Viking and Voyager planetary spacecraft. It closed in April. Pad 41 will undergo a $250 million refurbishment to become the launch base for Lockheed Martin's Atlas V fleet.
