The Pakistani navy has issued a tender for a single ATR 72-500 aircraft to be used to carry passengers and freight, as well perform limited rescue duties.
The tender calls for a "combi" aircraft less than 12 years old with a rear door that can be opened in flight to drop relief goods and rescue personnel, says a document obtained by Flightglobal Pro.
In addition, the aircraft should not have logged over 25,000 flight hours or 25,000 flight cycles.
Flightglobal's MiliCAS database shows that the Pakistani navy operates 14 fixed wing aircraft. These include a BAe 125 in the reconnaissance role, as well as seven Fokker F27s and six Lockheed Martin P-3C Orions in the maritime patrol role.
