Pratt & Whitney Canada is accelerating production of the PW610F turbofan powering the Eclipse 500 following Transport Canada certification, and plans to deliver around 500 PW600 family engines in 2007 from its newly completed production line in Longueuil, Quebec.

The engine maker has a firm order backlog for around 5,700 PW600 engines, some 5,000 of which are for the PW610F. Approximately 500 are for the PW615F powering Cessna's Citation Mustang and the balance for the PW617F that will equip Embraer's Phenom 100.

"We've been planning for high-volume production from the get-go, and we're talking numbers that are not typical in our business," says P&WC.
