Pratt & Whitney Canada is seeking to gain approval in the next few weeks for an improved pneumatic system in the PT6A-67B, which powers the Pilatus PC-12 single-engine turboprop. The Canadian company is working with the manufacturer of the fuel control unit (FCU) to gain the approval and hopes to have an upgrade plan in place before the end of the month. The PC-12 has been involved in six engine power rollback incidents all attributed to failure of the FCU, according to P&WC. Meanwhile, the worldwide PC-12 fleet of more than 500 aircraft recently exceeded one million flight hours.
