NAVCOM AVIATION is attempting to launch a scheduled airline called Paradise Air, using the assets and certificate of the former UltrAir. Scheduled and charter services are due to begin soon using one Boeing 727, possibly flown by ex-UltrAir pilots, linking Washington Dulles and New York Kennedy airports.
Houston-based UltrAir tried, but failed, to win over full-fare-paying business travelers with gourmet meals, free drinks and 89-seat 727s. It challenged Continental Airlines in court, claiming predatory competition, but finally shut down, citing competitive pressures.
Navcom Aviation also acquired UltrAir's maintenance base at Smyrna, Tennessee, to conduct heavy maintenance for Part 121 carriers.
