Anglo-Italian safety equipment specialist Aero Sekur is expanding its maintenance capabilities with the opening of its new maintenance, repair and overhaul facility near Rome.

The site services inflatable equipment such as life vests, escape slides, rafts and other floatation devices. Fire extinguishers and oxygen bottles are to be supported by the end of this year, but further products, such as stretchers and cargo nettings, are also on the company's radar, chief executive Mark Butler said.

He is currently setting up an MRO facility in India, which will mirror the site in Italy. It will initially be in Bengaluru but eventually move to Cochin.
