Canada's Cyclone Manufacturing announced at Le Bourget that it has been contracted by Embraer to supply critical structural components for the Brazilian airframe manufacturer's E-190 series regional jets and its Legacy 450-500 business jet.
Cyclone will deliver large die-forged structural components for the E-190 series starting in late July, at a rate of eight aircraft sets a month. Deliveries for the Embraer Legacy 450-500 business jet will begin in the second quarter of 2010, with Cyclone manufacturing upper and lower wing skins and the major wing spars. The contract was awarded following competitive bidding, and led to contract signature this spring.
The contract is worth $12 million over the next three years, and vice-president business development Jeremy Artus comments: "This is another success story where Cyclone continues to demonstrate our worldwide competitiveness. We were chosen because of our advanced technological expertise coupled with our manufacturing capability in complex structural components."
