Goodrich has completed flight testing of its Next Generation Boeing 737 wheels and carbon brakes. The US company says formal certification is expected in the second half of 2009, and brakes will be available for delivery on production aircraft in the first half of 2010.

The new wheels and carbon brakes provide a weight savings of around 318kg (700lb) per aircraft compared with high capacity steel brakes, and 250kg compared with standard capacity steel brakes, says Goodrich.
