Elbit Systems EW and Sigint-Elisra is launching a new self-protection electronic warfare (EW) system developed for unmanned aircraft called the SPS-65V5, the company says.

Edgar Maimon, general manager of Elisra, says, "The increased global use of UAS [unmanned aircraft systems] is accompanied by a growing demand for survivability capabilities for these platforms, enabling protection of both the mission and the platform itself."

The system should also enhance an unmanned aircraft's intelligence gathering capabilities, Maimon says.

The system is based on the modular SPS65-V5, which allows for the addition/removal of capabilities based on the operational requirements set by the user and mission restrictions, the company says. The system can be installed on board a variety of unmanned platforms, ranging from tactical systems to high-altitude platforms.
