German flag-carrier Lufthansa has firmed its agreement for 100 Airbus single-aisle aircraft, including 70 A320neo-family twinjets.
The airline is also taking 30 baseline A320s, deliveries of which will start in 2015, the same year in which the A320neo enters service.
Lufthansa has yet to make an engine selection for the twinjets. "They're still gliders at the moment," says group fleet management chief Nico Buchholz, as the airline signed the agreement at the Paris air show.
It supervisory board had approved the acquisition of the jets - comprising 35 A321neo and 35 A320neo, as well as the 30 baseline aircraft - earlier this year.
Buchholz says the two sides have since finalised the terms of the agreement.
He says the carrier has 236 aircraft open for delivery and that they will meet growth and renewal requirements across the group's airlines.
Lufthansa agreed the purchase at the same time as it cleared the acquisition of Boeing 777-300ERs for its Swiss division and another pair of A380s for its mainline fleet.
