Mitsubishi Aircraft (chalet A244) has unveiled new and improved seats at its Mitsubishi MRJ regional jet cabin mock-up.
Manufactured by Japanese seat maker Delta Kogyo, the seat is cushioned with what Mitsubishi calls "3D net technology" - a netted material that encourages ventilation and makes the seat more comfortable.
The new seats have passed internal safety tests conducted by Mitsubishi, said the airframer.
Other tweaks made to the seats include a smaller tray table, which slides open more easily. Airline customers can choose to add seat pockets and modify the fixed back seats to include a seat bottom that slides forward 50mm (2in).
Mitsubishi is also in talks with in-flight entertainment system providers, it says.
The seats on the MRJ have a pitch of 29in and width of 18.5in. Mitsubishi said it is working towards a target weight of 20kg (44lb) for two seats.
