Rockwell Collins has announced a follow-on contract from China's Xian Simulation Science and Technology Company (XASC) to provide major components for two MA-60 full flight simulators.
In the past two years, Rockwell Collins has been working with XASC on six simulation and training programmes for indigenous Chinese aircraft types.
Ron Ho, managing director China for Rockwell Collins, said: "The rapid growth in the Chinese aviation market segment is naturally driving demand for world-class simulation and training solutions for these new platforms. Our joint development arrangement with XASC to deliver the best training available for Chinese aircraft, including the MA-60, MA-600, as well as the C919 and ARJ-21, has been a model programme on all levels."
XASC chairman of the board of directors Jin Dongsheng said: "As a manufacturer of Chinese high-level simulators, XASC will take advantage of its long-term co-operative relationship with Rockwell Collins to bring its simulator business to the highest level to satisfy the demand of the airline industry."
The contract win follows the recent Level C certification of the company's first MA-60 full flight simulator by the Civil Aviation Administration of China featuring Rockwell Collins' basic simulator unit, avionics, and motion- and image-generation systems, part of the company's CORE simulation architecture.
XASC is responsible for the development of the aircraft-specific modules and performing the integration.
