UK-based airport investor Peel Group is to become the sole owner of Liverpool airport by taking over an outstanding 65% shareholding.
Peel has a 35% stake in the airport but has agreed to acquire the balance from Vantage Airport Group.
It has not given the terms of the transaction but says the change of ownership is "effective immediately". Vantage is instead focusing on projects aimed at the North American market, among others, adds Peel.
Peel says that its investment in Liverpool will allow the business to be "taken to the next level, attracting new airlines and new services".
Liverpool airport's chief, Matthew Thomas, says the facility is a "key project" in a 50-year Peel Group programme designated Ocean Gateway, which was started in 2008 and which will include investments worth £50 billion in the north-west UK.
