Pierre Van Droogenbroeck has been appointed chief executive of VLM Airlines. He succeeds Piet Wouters who has left the industry. Van Droogenbroeck held management positions in data communications before joining the aviation industry. The UK Ministry of Defence has appointed Alan Garwood as head of defence export services. Garwood was previously chief operating officer of MBDAMissile Systems. Loretta Bartolucci has been appointed Swiss International Air Lines' sales director in Italy. Bartolucci was formerly Italian sales manager for Austrian Airlines and Swissair. Professor Giorgio Giorgi will succeed Pier Cesare Guenzi as Piaggio Aero Industries' general manager. Giorgi has been with Alitalia since 1968. Lockheed Martin has appointed Scott Harris president, continental Europe, responsible for the company's business development in mainland Europe. Harris was previously vice-president plans and analysis, in the business development organisation at Lockheed Martin'sheadquarters in Bethesda, Maryland. Harris replaces Robert Clifford, who has retired. Mohamed El-Borai, managing director of charter carrier JMC Airlines, is resigning to spend more time with his family. His replacement will be Glenn Chipp, who is currently aviation director of Thomas Cook Tour Operations, which owns JMC Airlines.
