Perfect Aviation has added a Bombardier Learjet 45 and a Challenger 605 to its European managed fleet and says it is increasing the scope of its operations at its UK facility in London's Biggin Hill airport.
The Switzerland-headquartered company - which also has a base in Lisbon, Portugal - believes UK-based operators will not benefit from an expected hike in business aircraft demand during the London Olympic Games. "It will probably be good for the fixed-base operators and British airports generally," says Perfect Aviation chief executive Will Curtis, "but the overseas business jet operators will likely take the lion's share of the traffic flying into London."
Curtis is planning to remove Perfect's aircraft from the London area during the event as "heavy restrictions and likely confusion" will be "detrimental to our productivity".
Curtis adds: "We have seen similar situations with World Cup soccer events, where operators' high hopes ended up being frustrated by air traffic control restrictions and hiked airport fees."
