Embraer is to complete the joint definition phase for its Phenom 300 light jet this quarter as it prepares to square up to Cessna and Raytheon and compete against aircraft such as the Citation Encore and CJ3 and Hawker 400XP from 2009. With a price of around $6.65 million, the Phenom 300 is being designed to outperform rivals, with an extended range of 3,330km (1,800nm) and a higher cruise speed of 450kt (830km/h). The aircraft is expected to have advanced systems such as spoiler and brake by wire and health monitoring.
