FLIGHTSAFETY International (FSI) and Petroleum Helicopters (PHI) have agreed to establish a joint helicopter aircrew and ground crew training programme. Integrated PHI flight training and FSI simulator training will be offered to helicopter operators.

The link results from PHI's recent expansion from visual-flight-rules offshore-support operations into instrument-flight-rules emergency-medical services, which require simulator training. PHI is the world's largest civil-helicopter operator and FSI is the world's largest training company.

Helicopter operators will be offered flight training at Louisiana-based PHI, integrated with training on FSI's Bell 212, 412, 230 and 430 simulators at Forth Worth, Texas, and Sikorsky S-76 simulators at West Palm Beach, Florida.

The S-76 machines can be also used for instrument training on Agusta and Eurocopter turbine- twin helicopters.
