Airbus is preparing to commence flight-testing of the Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-97 engine designed to power the A350-1000.
It has fitted the powerplant to an A380 testbed, in the left-hand inboard position, the airframer confirms.
Rolls-Royce developed the upgraded engine for the largest variant of the A350, complementing the XWB-84 on the baseline -900.
Airbus is aiming to begin final assembly of the A350-1000 in the first quarter of next year.
