Turkey’s first Boeing 737-700-based airborne early warning and control system aircraft has made its first flight after undergoing in-country modification by Turkish Aerospace Industries.
Flown from Ankara on 16 July by two Boeing test pilots, the 2.5h sortie included “functional tests that verified the airworthiness of the aircraft’s systems and structures”, the US manufacturer says.

The first of three 737s to be modified by TAI under Turkey’s four-platform ‘Peace Eagle’ project, the aircraft will undergo further mission system validation work over the next few weeks, before being painted in air force markings, says Boeing.
