Hainan Airlines’ new regional subsidiary Grand China Express has received its first Embraer ERJ-145, which is also the 1,000th aircraft produced from the ERJ-145 family.
An Embraer spokeswoman in Beijing says Grand China Express Air took delivery of its first ERJ-145 on 28 September during a ceremony at Harbin Embraer, the aircraft manufacturing joint venture between Embraer of Brazil and China’s Harbin Aircraft.
She says Embraer CEO Frederico Fleury Curado was there as were other VIPs including the vice chairman of China’s National Development and Reform Commission, Zhang Xiaoqiang.
Harbin Embraer, which is based in and derives its name from the northeast Chinese city of Harbin, is the only aircraft factory that still manufactures the ERJ-145.
Grand China Express is based in Beijing’s port city of Tianjin and is a new regional airline that China’s Hainan Airlines established.
The aircraft that it has just received is the 1,000th produced from the ERJ-145 family, confirms the spokeswoman. The aircraft family also includes the ERJ-135 and ERJ-140.
Embraer’s spokeswoman also says this is the first ERJ-145 for the Hainan Airlines Group and Grand China Express plans to station this particular aircraft in Tianjin.
Grand China Express also has a fleet of Dornier 328Jets which it inherited from Hainan Airlines.
