Russian airframer Irkut appears to have quietly carried out the maiden flight of the MC-21 twinjet.
Irkut has yet to confirm the flight details in a formal statement, but Russian deputy prime minister Dmitry Rogozin has released an image of the aircraft airborne on social media.
"We're flying," he states.
Irkut's MC-21 is powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1400G engines and the jet appears to have been accompanied by a trainer chase aircraft during the flight.
