An Italian firefighting aircraft, owned and operated by Sorem, crashed into a lake near Istanbul on 4 October at 18:44 local time, injuring three pilots onboard.
According to eyewitness reports, an engine on Sorem's Bombardier CL-215, registered I-SRME, caught fire before it crashed into the lake.
The aircraft took-off from Istanbul Ataturk Airport at 16:46 local time on a training and surveillance flight.

The pilot tried to put down on Lake Terkos, 27nm (50km) northwest of Istanbul, but during the hard landing the aircraft broke into three parts and burst into flames.
The three pilots were rescued from the water and have minor injuries.
The aircraft was wet leased to the Municipality of Istanbul for two years.
