An Iran Air Fokker 100 was substantially damaged when it veered off the runway while taking off from Tehran Mehrabad Airport on 2 January.
Images of the crashed aircraft show that it suffered significant fire damage to the left side of its fuselage. Local reports cite a Mehrabad airport air traffic control executive as stating that the aircraft's wheels "were disconnected" and that part of its wing caught fire during the accident. The official Iranian news agency IRNA says that none of the passengers on board was injured.
Iran's Civil Aviation Organisation says the twinjet was operating a domestic flight to Shiraz. The accident occurred at around 07:20, and airport weather data at the time shows that there was light snow and mist.
