NEWPIPERAIRCRAFT has received US certification for a turbocharged version of its Saratoga II five- to six-seat piston single. Customer deliveries will begin this month. The company has also improved the normally aspirated Saratoga IIHP.
The PA-32R-301T Saratoga IITC is powered by a turbo-charged 225kW (300hp) Textron Lycoming TIO-540, allowing operations at altitudes exceeding 20,000ft (6,100m). The IIT has a maximum cruise speed of 190kt (355km/h), compared with 170kt for the IIHP, which is powered by a 225kW IO-540. Cruise range is 1,520km (820nm), compared with 1,370km for the IIHP, but useful load is reduced slightly, from 550kg to 520kg. The IITC is priced at just over $398,000 and the IIHP at just under $379,000.
