Several Kenyan politicians and tribal leaders were among the 14 people killed when a Kenyan air force Harbin Y-12 transport crashed near Marsabit on 10 April. Three survivors were badly injured. Nairobi area control says the crew had not reported any technical problems during the daylight flight from Nairobi Moi airbase, but they had abandoned a visual approach in mist and rain. The crew was carrying out a circuit for a second approach when the Y-12 hit a communications mast and crashed 3km (1.6nm) from the airfield. (pictured below).
