PGSUS, the Lockheed Martin/Rafael joint venture, is to start development of the Popeye Lite, a lighter version of the Popeye missile known in US service as the AGM-142 Have Nap. The decision comes as the first AGM-142 rolls out from the company's Troy, Alabama, factory. The Popeye Lite is a 1,130kg (2,500lb) weapon, designed for carriage by smaller tactical fighters. Prime markets will be nations that have ordered the 1,360kg Popeye.
