An EDS-led consortium has been named preferred bidder for the UK's £4 billion ($7.6 billion) defence information infrastructure programme, which seeks to give the UK armed forces a standardised computer network to serve upto 300,000 users. The Atlas consortium, which also includes EADS, Fujitsu, General Dynamics and LogicaCMG, was selected ahead of the rival BT/CSC/Qinetiq/Thales consortium Radii .
