Airbus has signalled a further rate increase for A320-family production, with monthly output rising to 63 in 2021.

The airframer disclosed the plan during its full-year financial results briefing in Toulouse.

It says it is “on track” to reach a monthly production target of 60 aircraft this year, as it continues to ramp up manufacture of the A320neo.

But Airbus also stated that a rate of 63 is “targeted” for 2021.

Airbus has a backlog of 6,023 A320-family jets of which 5,866 are variants of the re-engined A320neo.

These include 3,651 A320neos plus 2,160 A321neos, as well as 55 A319neos. The airframer also has 157 conventional A320-family jets still to build.
