Pratt & Whitney has delivered the first PW1900G production engines for Embraer's in-development E195-E2.
The largest variant of the Brazilian airfarmer's re-winged and re-engined E2 E-Jet family is scheduled to gain type certification by June, with the first delivery to launch operator Azul set to follow during the second half of the year.
P&W vice-president commercial engine programmes Graham Webb describes the delivery as an “important milestone for the programme”.
In April 2018, the E190-E2 entered service with Norwegian carrier Wideroe as the first model of the E2 family, which is exclusively powered by the PW1900G geared turbofan.
Three E190-E2s have since been delivered to Wideroe, and one to Air Astana.
P&W says the E195-E2 delivers a 24% per-seat fuel burn reduction versus the baseline E195.
