Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) has signed new maintenance agreements with Qantas Airways and Asiana Airlines covering their Airbus A380s.
The “exclusive, long-term agreement” with Qantas Airways for the base maintenance of its fleet of 12 Airbus A380s. This includes modifications, C1-checks, C4-checks and future C8-checks. The length of the agreement was not disclosed.
“It is one of the largest base maintenance contracts throughout the Lufthansa Technik network,” says Burkhard Andrich, LTP’s president and chief executive.
Asiana also signed a new agreement in March that will see LTP undertake heavy maintenance on the carrier's two A380s for three years, starting from 2016.
The MRO adds that this is the first A380 maintenance contract it as signed with an Asian operator.
Flightglobal's Ascend Fleets database shows that the South Korean carrier has four more A380s on order.
LTP announced recently that from the third quarter of this year it will have two A380-capable bays operating at its Manila base following the completion of a major hangar expansion project.
